Merus Power and Alpiq hosted an energy storage opening ceremony in Valkeakoski
Merus Power and Alpiq hosted an inauguration in Valkeakoski, Finland, to celebrate our joint battery energy storage system project – the first grid-forming BESS in the Nordics. The event brought together customers, partners, and industry representatives to mark the successful completion of the collaboration.
Before the celebration, a press event was held with several journalists and photographers present. The event received coverage in Finnish national media, including Yle News.
For one evening, the industrial surroundings of the energy storage site were transformed into an elegant venue. The ribbon was cut by Lukas Gresnigt, Head of International & Member of the Alpiq Executive board, Kari Tuomala, CEO of Merus Power, Minna Uschanoff, Mayor of Valkeakoski, and Antti Keskinen, Senior Vice President of Fingrid. The program included guided tours on the site and dinner with live music. The atmosphere was warm and celebratory, reflecting the successful partnership and shared achievement.
Merus Power warmly thanks Alpiq, the Merus Team, and everyone who joined the celebration. Together, we created a memorable evening and celebrated an important milestone on our journey toward a cleaner and more stable power system.
