Active harmonic filter calculation and sizing tool

Estimate harmonic distortion and active harmonic filter sizing based on your electrical system and load information. Get a preliminary calculation of the compensation needed to reach your selected harmonic limits.

Harmonic calculation principles

The Merus® Harmonic Calculator provides an estimate based on electrical system data, load information, and simulation models developed using measurements from real installations. When detailed measurement data is not available, the calculation uses typical load models and operating assumptions to estimate harmonic distortion and the required active harmonic filter capacity. For VFD loads, the calculation assumes an 80% load unless more specific information is provided.

For detailed instructions and calculation inputs, see the Merus® Harmonic Calculator User Guide.

Personal information

Please provide your name, company and a valid e-mail address to deliver the report to.

System and supplying transformer information

Please provide basic information of the electrical system and the supplying transformer. Please do not use thousand separators.

Please contact sales@meruspower.fi for solutions at higher voltage levels.

4W or 3W connection:

Systems where neutral wire exists can be selected as 4W. 4W connection is needed only when neutral wire currents (harmonics 3rd, 9th, 15th …) need to be compensated (3W by default).

Elevation:

If the installation site is at an altitude higher than 1000 m above sea level, please choose the the elevation from the drop-down list. If the elevation is above 3000 m, please make an inquiry to our sales directly.
