Greenhouses

Customer challenges
in greenhouses

Greenhouses play an important role in modern society and contribute to sustainable development. As demand for food increases around the world, greenhouses reduce the need of grocery transportation by enabling food to be grown locally. However, keeping the plants in optimal humidity and temperature levels requires a lot of high-quality electricity year-round.

Typical growing lights, such as High- or Low-Pressure Sodium lamps or LEDs have high triplen harmonic emissions that cause high neutral currents and significant voltage distortion. This in turn causes premature breakdown or malfunctioning of lamps themselves and other equipment that has high yearly costs. In addition, the high neutral harmonic currents cause dangerous voltage levels which can be a fire hazard and might cause cable burning and other technical problems.

Poor power quality can affect critical horticulture applications such as growing lights and HVAC systems and thus lead to material losses, equipment damage and costly penalties for not complying with demanding grid codes. By improving power quality and energy efficiency, we can support greenhouse reliability and sustainability without compromising production.

Applications such as lighting, emitters, HVAC systems (Heat, ventilation, and air conditioning), etc.
